Abstract:
The favorable street view quality fosters a positive atmosphere for enterprise innovation. This paper employs machine learning algorithms based on object detection and semantic segmentation, using the big data from Baidu Street View of Shanghai, to analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of street view indexes around enterprises and empirically examine the impact of diverse street view characteristics on the spatial distribution and concentration of enterprise innovation. The study reveals significant disparities in the spatial distribution characteristics of diverse street view indexes within a 1 km radius around enterprises in Shanghai. Moreover, different street view indexes have varying effects on enterprise innovation. This paper emphasizes the important impact of enhancing urban spatial quality, represented by street view quality, on fostering the agglomeration of enterprise innovation. In urban planning, efforts should be actively directed towards transforming streets into attractive spaces with an innovative atmosphere.
